This workshop builds on the theories and practical applications explored in the October 25 Beyond Group Work: Collaborative Learning and the Liberal Arts Classroom workshop by exploring collaborative approaches to student-centered learning.
Especially in online courses and/or courses with a large geographic array of students, group work offers a particular set of challenges as students navigate the digital limitations of internet learning and the difficulties of differing time zones and academic schedules. This workshop offers concrete and practical responses to these challenges by exploring strategies OSUN faculty can use to develop effective, creative, and engaging activities and assignments. These practical responses use online learning tools and the diversity of student experiences as a means through which faculty members can create group work that encourages student learning through collaboration.
